When should my child begin Religious Education?

Children begin religious instruction at St. Christopher in the first grade.  We do, however, have a Kindergarten Program available on Wednesday afternoons from 4:00 until 4:45pm.

How do I register my child for Religious Education?

Registration typically begins in May for classes that will start the following September.  You can come in to the Religious Ed office to register or you may download the form from this site and mail it in with the necessary documents. The Religious Education Office is closed for summer vacation July until August 22nd. Please call (516)223-5813 at that time if you have any questions.

How can I volunteer my time and talents to help the children of St. Christopher?

The St. Christopher Religious Education Program is primarily a volunteer-based program.  We rely on volunteers to teach our children as catechists and to protect our children as hall monitors.  This program would not be able to give the children of St. Christopher the education in their faith that they deserve if it were not for the generosity of our volunteers.  Catechists make a weekly commitment to teach, but if you prefer not to make that level of commitment, you can volunteer as a hall monitor or a substitute catechist and help us throughout the year as your schedule allows.  If you volunteer as a hall monitor or a substitute catechist, you would only be asked to help out when your child is attending class.  Please call the Office at 223-5813 for more information.

What should I do if my child is ill and unable to attend class?

If your child cannot attend class because of illness, we ask that you call the office (516)223-5813 and let us know.  When your child is feeling better, please do the next lesson with him/her at home.

What should I do if my child loses the textbook?

If your child loses their textbook, please call the office at (516)223-5813.  Replacement textbooks cost $15.00 each.

What should I do if my child is having a difficult time in class?

If your child is having any kind of difficulty in class, speak to the Director, Mrs. Madelaine Willi. Many times, simple solutions can be found for problems, if they are handled right away.

What should Religious Education know about my child that will help them provide the best possible learning experience and safest environment for my child?

If your child has allergies, carries an EPI pen or has other needs that you feel Religious Education should be aware, please call the Director.  All information will be held in the strictest of confidence.
